The WWF is run at a local level by the following offices...
The Office of the Ombudsperson is the independent accountability and grievance mechanism for WWF’s global network. It has a mandate to address complaints related to WWF’s Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF) and to help strengthen WWF’s environmental, social and human rights performance by enhancing communities’ voices in projects that may affect them.
The Office is independent of WWF operations. It reports to the WWF International Board, which has oversight of the Office’s mandate, scope and functions, and also has a reporting line to WWF International’s Director General to facilitate its day-to-day functioning.
The Operating Framework establishes the Office’s mandate to address complaints through problem solving and to support WWF’s environmental and social compliance assessments in response to a complaint. The Office also has a mandate to provide advice to enhance WWF’s environmental and social outcomes, and to strengthen WWF’s grievance systems for the benefit of communities and stakeholders. The Operating Framework describes the Office’s governance structure and the core principles that guide its approach.
